Emmerdale star Sam Hall has hinted at a potential exit from the beloved ITV soap as Samson Dingle.

In a recent interview with The Mirror and other media outlets, Hall expressed his desire to remain on Emmerdale after nearly two decades, yet he also alluded to a possible heart-wrenching departure following significant plot twists.

He intriguingly suggested a timeframe for how long Samson might be absent and whether audiences can anticipate his comeback.Earlier this year, reports suggested that Samson might meet a grim fate in an intense storyline; however, Hall quickly quashed these death rumours, though he didn't dismiss the possibility of an exit.

Subsequently, it was disclosed that Samson would be embroiled in a chilling stabbing narrative, which he survived, only to frame Matty Barton.

As the truth unravels in upcoming episodes, Samson finds himself in deep trouble, seemingly setting the stage for his departurewhether that means imprisonment or fleeing. Hall's comments have only intensified speculation about Samson's future on Emmerdale.

Discussing the impact on his character, Hall revealed: "[There's] the emotional side of dealing with the fact that for a couple of years, he won't be seeing his dad or his step-mum who is like his real mum, and that has an affect on him.", reports the Mirror.

This statement, while speculative, casts doubt over Samson's fate in the series. Matty's family and several Dingles have turned against him and Samson's father, Sam, due to the lie about the stabbing. Even Lydia Dingle, his stepmother, is in conflict with the pair over the truth, hinting at a potential split between her and Sam.

However, spoilers for the upcoming week suggest that after a brief escape, Samson might end up running away permanently as his lies become a police issue. After all, Samson does admit at the station what he did - but will he be punished for his role in the cover-up and the real events at the Hop that day?

Meanwhile, James Hooton, who plays Sam, revealed his character's fury as he attempts to help his son escape only to discover he's confessed. He shared: "He feels initially betrayed by the fact Lydia has made him do the right thing which is confess that things aren't what they were originally told and words are said."

"Sam says something along the lines of 'I'll never forgive you for this' but essentially it's all water under the bridge as soon as Sam manages to get his brain into gear and he realises she has made Samson do the right thing in the long run.

Sam is only thinking short term for his son not to end up in jail and Sam many years ago did the same thing and ran away from taking responsibility for his actions so he sees it as a way to do things but essentially he realises Lydia has got this covered and got Samson to do the right thing and I think they will be fine over time."

Meanwhile, Karen Blick, who plays Lydia, also spoke about the potential departure of Samson. She shared with us: "I don't think Lydia fully understands what that will mean; if it means a prison sentence, will it be a relatively short prison sentence? He's a clever lad, he'll be able to come back out and put his life back together."
