The finale of Ncuti Gatwa's first season of Doctor Who has left fans sharply divided as many expected more from the ending.

However, BBC viewers were left united over one detail of the show as they noticed a similarity between a character's entrance and a meme that took British social media by storm in 2018.

Susan Triad, portrayed by Susan Twist, emerged as one of Sutekh's "angels of death" in the storyline - although she was unaware of the link to a mythical God at first.

Footage from the gripping episode showcased her delivering a speech about S Triad Technology. The name was later discovered to be an anagram of the ancient nemesis from the days of Tom Baker's portrayal of the Doctor, looming with threats to annihilate every shred of existence.

But Triad's speech seemed all too reminiscent of something viewers had seen before. She strode onto the stage with a sprightly step, swaying arms before stopping to wave at the supposed audience.

Fans quickly drew parallels to none other than former Prime Minister Theresa Mays memorable entrance during a 2018 speech. She shimmied onto stage to the tune of Abbas Dancing Queen, emulating her previously spotted awkward dance moves made infamous during an African tour.

Her twirls and gesticulations at Birmingham's Symphony Hall spawned the viral meme affectionately dubbed 'Dancing Theresa May' or 'Maybot'. Now, this endearing snippet from Doctor Who has joined forces with Mays iconic dance, creating waves across TikTok.

The line "Ah hell, nah man," posted by social media user Adrie (@adriedm), stirred up quite a buzz online, racking up more than 5,800 likes.

Social media users couldn't contain their laughter as they took to the comments section to suggest the move was intentional.

One viewer remarked: "I noticed the Theresa May resemblance too." Another chimed in with: "I'm glad I'm not the only one." And a third shared: "I think it was on purpose."

Despite the huge Doctor Who hype, many complained feeling "underwhelmed" by the Empire Of Death episode. Some went as far as to say it was "boring".

@Eye_Coaster fumed: "I still think this reveal was very underwhelming. It was built up to be so much, yet led to so little." @DoctorDanAlsop commented: "First 25 minutes I really enjoyed. The rest... just didn't really sit right. Performances were all brilliant though, and production wise was on edge if my seat..... but the last half just didn't do it for me #DoctorWho." (sic)

@GoodGodBhanu raged: "#DoctorWho finale was so boring! The entire storyline of Ruby and the mystery behind her birth is just useless. They kept building as it is some universe-altering event and ended up being a big bowl of nothing. This is what happens when the writers don't know how to end a story!" And another user chimed in: "No even kidding this was one of the worst finales ever, At least the Timeless Child was eventful. #DoctorWho."
