Kenny Doughty has set pulses racing among his fanbase with the announcement that he's embarking on a fresh television venture, just over twelve months since he bid farewell to the much-loved ITV drama Vera.

The actor quickly became a fan favourite after stepping into the role of DS Aiden Healy in its fifth season, succeeding David Leon whose departure left fans and series lead Brenda Blethyn quite taken aback.

After an impressive eight-year stint, Kenny teased his exit with a reflective Instagram post filled with snapshots alongside his fellow cast members, captioned: "Thanks for the memories." In the spring of 2023, he made public his "difficult decision" to step away.

Since his last appearance on Vera in December, Kenny has maintained a relatively low profile. However, more recently, the actor has teased fans with his new role - although he has yet to confirm the show he is starring in.

The actor gave a little hint regarding his comeback to the limelight and this week, he revealed via Instagram that he's back in action on set.
