Bridgerton star makes ITV Loose Women return despite record Ofcom complaints

ITV was hit with over 4,000 Ofcom complaints following remarks Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh made while commenting on King Charles's Coronation.

Loose Women announce Adjoa Andoh as guest panelist

Loose Women have revealed Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh will be joining them on the show on Thursday (June 12), saying they are welcoming a new member to the "family".

She will joing the ladies for a chat just a day before part two of season three of the Regency period drama hits Netflix. Adjoa plays the influential Lady Danbury in the smash hit show on the streamer.

Running a special VT halfway through Tuesday's (June 11) show they announced: "Another lady is joining the Loose Women panel. Bridgerton actress Adjoa Andoh.

"She's stepping out to bring us the hottest talk from the 'Ton. And taking a break from matchmaking she reveals the key to her own happy marriage."

Adjoa is no stranger to the show having previously appeared on the long-running ITV daytime programme. She is no also stranger to speaking her mind and ITV was hit with over 4,000 Ofcom complaints following remarks she made while commenting on King Charles's Coronation.

Speaking during the event, which took place on May 6 2023, she said: "We have gone from the rich diversity of the Abbey to a terribly white balcony. I am very struck by that.

"I am also looking at those younger generations and thinking 'What are the nuances that they will inhabit when they grow?'" As a result ITV were the subject of 4,165 Ofcom complaints.

The following day she said her comments had been taken the wrong way when she told BBC Radio 4's Sunday morning show with Paddy O'Connell: "I thought it was rather beautiful.

"The day was incredibly touching, the vulnerability that we were talking about, Charles just in a shirt, gorgeous!

"But I think I upset a few people yesterday, I was talking about the day and how marvellous it was.

"And then looking at the balcony at the end and suddenly going 'Oh it's so white!' because the day had been so mixed and I didn't mean to upset anybody."

Defending her comments, Paddy told her: "You haven't upset anyone."

Loose Women is on ITV weekdays at 12.30pm.
