Coronation Street teaser: What happened to Lauren?

It looks as though the pressure could be getting to Roy Cropper (played by David Neilson). official Twitter shared an exclusive preview ahead of Tuesday night’s episode of the cafe owner speaking to DS Swain (Victoria Myers).

Speaking to Roy, she demands he tell her the truth about his fallout with Carla Barlow (Alison King). She asked: “Was it, for example, to do with the statement her nephew Bobby gave us?

“Regarding the man he claims he saw in Lauren’s flat? I’d like the truth this time Roy.” As Roy made it no secret he disagreed with what Bobby Crawford (Jack Caroll) and Carla had done, will he come clean?

A few weeks ago, fans of the soap saw Bobby tell a huge lie to the police to try and get Roy out of prison. Giving a statement, he detailed seeing a mystery man in a balaclava the night Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) disappeared.

Bobby told DS Swain that the man threatened to kill Lauren if he ever told the truth. Giving a vague description of the person, he was hopeful it would make the police look at someone else other than Roy.

Carla, against her better judgement agreed to go along with the lie and ended up telling Roy about the whole thing, much to his disapproval.

Speaking to Carla privately, Roy said: “I've no wish for you or Bobby to be punished for what you've done. Nevertheless, your deceit is something I cannot move past.

“I feel very uncomfortable and I'd rather you didn't visit me again. In fact, as far as I'm concerned, this is the end of our friendship."

With the pair’s friendship torn apart, DS Swain is determined to get to the bottom of what happened and has her suspicions over Bobby’s statement.

Ahead of the episode, viewers commented on the preview to share their thoughts with many believing Roy will come clean about everything.

@robert37684 pleaded: “Come on Roy, please speak up, we need you out of prison.”

One fan commented: “Our Roy, can't help but tell the truth.”

@Shereemorgan121 wrote: “Roy has continually told her the truth that's why he's in jail because she doesn't believe anyone is as innocent and gullible as him.”

Furious by the whole ordeal, one social media user said: “Absolutely ridiculous that they had Roy and Carla fall out. If they were going to have them fall out it should have been over something good.”

@Tokyoghoulfraser63 begged: “Please do Roy”.

Will Roy’s conscience get the better of him and come clean to DS Swain about Bobby’s statement?

Coronation Street continues this week Monday to Friday on ITV from 7:30pm.
