Coronation Street fans 'work out' Sarah Platt romance twist amid murder plot

Coronation Street's Sarah Platt (played by Tina O'Brien) was enraged this evening as she set about breaking into villainous Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) van. Desperate to protect her daughter Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) after the pimp was released from prison following a conviction for raping her and grooming her for sex work, she explodes with fury.

However, eagle-eyed fans believe they've spotted sparks flying in another way too, after commenting that she seems to have an interest in the new policeman on the scene - Bernie Winter's (Jane Hazlegrove) son Kit. The former Hollyoaks actor, whose real name is Jacob Roberts, is considered quite a heart-throb by fans - and it looks as if Sarah too is falling for his charms as the action heats up on the ITV soap.

"We’d never even heard of this long lost son of Bernie’s until 5 minutes ago, and now he’s turning up everywhere ffs #coronationstreet #Corrie," one fan exclaimed. Meanwhile, scores of fans have taken to Twitter following tonight's show to claim they see potential for a romance between the pair.

"Bernie’s copper son will be the next one in Sarah’s bed!" one fan bluntly predicted. "I can see a romance developing between Kit & Sarah," another agreed.

A third chimed in decisively: "Sarah will be sh*****g this new detective by the end of the week." Bernie recently set off fireworks when she revealed that she'd birthed a long-lost son called Zodiac whom she'd "abandoned" and given up for adoption in her younger years but was now desperate to retrace.

She recently posed as a cleaner seeking a job so she could gain access to his home after tracking him down under his adopted name through public records.

He sent her packing after he walked in and caught her rifling through his home, thinking she was a thief.

When she came clean and admitted he might be her son, he furiously denied the possibility, but after she left, viewers saw him pick up a jade elephant - the one she said she'd left him for him as a farewell gift moments before he was given up for adoption.

Viewers are now in no doubt that Kit is actually Zodiac, and he's been popping up more on-screen in his capacity as a policeman.

Fans joked on Twitter that PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) should now step aside, with one quizzing: "I wonder if PC Tinker is p****d off that he’s been relegated in favour of Zodiac."

In tonight's episode, he seemed gentle and sympathetic as Sarah confessed her frustration with Nathan being back on the scene, especially as he's been linked through Bethany's online research as a relapsed sex pest who is still targeting vulnerable young girls.

If Sarah is falling for Kit (aka Zodiac), he couldn't be more different from bad boy Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths), whom she had an affair with last year, prompting her split from husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).

Damon has been portrayed as a villain with an occasional soft side, who planned to murder Adam in a revenge plot, and ended up landing himself a six-year jail sentence for an armed robbery organised by his brother.

Now, with fans convinced she is seeing stars where Zodiac is concerned, the burning question has been posed: "Is Sarah going to jump from the bad boys to a copper?"
