Death in Paradise: Ben Miller reveals his pick for next lead star
Ben Miller, the former star of Death in Paradise, has weighed in on who should fill Ralf Little's shoes as the lead detective after the actor's exit from the show at the end of series 13. While no official announcement has been made regarding Ralf's successor, Ben was eager to share his top pick for the role during an interview with RadioTimes.com.
"Oh my God, there are so many people who'd be brilliant," he exclaimed, before revealing his ideal candidate: "Toby Jones that's who I'd like to see." Toby Jones, a seasoned actor with an impressive portfolio, is well-known for his roles in major TV series and blockbuster movies such as Captain America: The First Avenger, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and even Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
He also recently held viewers spellbound in Mr.Bates vs The Post Office, a gripping dramatisation of the Horizon post office scandal, which saw numerous sub-postmasters and mistresses falsely accused of theft, fraud, and false accounting due to a flawed IT system.
In addition to Toby, Ben also mentioned the possibility of a female lead taking over the helm of Death in Paradise, suggesting it could "definitely work" He added enthusiastically, "I could see that, 100 percent. I think that'd be good too. If we're playing fantasy detectives, Miranda Hart."
Ralf has officially departed from the beloved series, as his character Neville Parker sailed away with Florence Cassell (played by Josephine Jobert) in a heartwarming finale.
The Two Pints star confirmed his exit to his fans, stating: "My time on Saint Marie has come to an end what an end! New adventures await Neville, and he got to sail away into the sunset with his best friend. Who knows what happens for them next!"
He also took the opportunity to thank his supporters, saying it was "an absolute privilege and a pleasure to bring Neville Parker to all of you and to share his quite profound journey with you."
Elaborating on his experience, Ralf added: "It's been one of the most magical and profound experiences of my entire life.
