Alex Jones announces break from The One Show after 'emotional' final episode
The One Show presenter Alex Jones will be replaced by Lauren Laverne as the host announced she will be taking a break from her hosting duties.
Alex Jones has announced she'll be taking a temporary leave from The One Show following an "emotional" episode that brought her to tears. The beloved Welsh presenter is set for a family holiday and plans to return to the BBC show on Monday, April 15.
The 47-year-old star will be temporarily replaced by Lauren Laverne starting Monday, April 8, who will co-host with Jermaine Jenas. Alex shared the news of her break on Instagram, where she boasts 353k followers, posting a picture of herself in a suit with the caption: "The face of a woman who is off on holiday......."
She expressed gratitude to her audience, saying: "Thank you for watching this week and especially for all the lovely comments about last night's One Big Thank you. The team is the best at finding the great stories. It was an emotional one."
In her post, Alex also mentioned she would miss her viewers: "Still on @bbciplayer if you missed it. Back on @bbctheoneshow a week on Monday. Miss you."
Lauren Laverne, Alex's colleague, responded to the post with: "Have a lovely break! See you on the other side. PS was perusing this suit just the other day. Love it."

While a fan commented: "Have a great family holiday."
Another follower wished her well: "Enjoy your much-earned holiday," and yet another added: "Have a lovely holiday Alex!"
The "emotional" moment Alex referred to in her post was when she surprised one guest on Friday's The One Show.
As part of the programme's One Big Thank You, Alex surprised Mike who formed a bond with three cabin crew, who saved his life when he was on board one of their flights.

Alex Jones discusses extended One Show
Alex also took to social media over the weekend to document the build-up to her family holiday.
She shared a rare snap of her three children, Teddy, Kit, and Annie, staring out at an airplane through an airport window.
In a succinct message, she posted: "Excitement mounting.."
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
