Coronation Street's Roy Cropper (played by David Neilson) finds himself under suspicion for the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) in next week's episodes. Spoilers released by ITV show that the mild-mannered cafe pillar of the community is shockingly arrested by DS Swain (Victoria Myers).
His problems begin when Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) tries to help out Sean Tully (Antony Cotton). The machinist has been looking for a new home ever since landlady Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) told him she couldn't have his son living under her roof.
Bobby suggests that he should consider renting Lauren’s old flat since she doesn't appear to be coming back after disappearing a couple of weeks ago. Sean goes to check out the place but is horrified to discover what he believes to be blood on the curtains.
When he informs Bobby and his aunt Carla Connor (Alison King) they are concerned and head straight for the police station to tell DS Swain. The police later let themselves into Lauren’s flat and survey the extent of the blood stains.
Trying to help the enquiry, Bobby tells them about her relationship with Roy, including how he gave her a job and found her somewhere to live. He also tells them that Roy cleaned up the mess in the flat after she left.
This appears to set off alarm bells with DS Swain who calls at the café and to question Roy.
Roy is also getting trolled online and Carla is forced to show him the vile comments that have been posted about him.
In the midst of all this, Lauren's friends are still concerned for her safety and Max Turner (Paddy Beaver) wants to make another appeal.
However, both Carla and Nina warn Roy not to contribute to it since it will only invite further unwanted attention.

Despite this, Suzi from the Gazette arrives at the café hoping to record a fresh appeal seeking information on Lauren's whereabouts.
Her timing turns out to be fortuitous for her as they’re interrupted by the arrival of DS Swain who tells Roy she’s arresting him on suspicion of the murder of Lauren.
Carla and Nina watch in horror as Roy is led away while Suzi has her story and the video of his arrest is posted online.
Carla’s sickened by Roy’s predicament but with the evidence stacked against him is there anything that can be done to convince the police he is innocent?
Coronation Street is on ITV Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm.
