BBC Bargain Hunt guests fail to make profit over jaw-dropping loss at auction
BBC viewers were outraged with Bargain Hunt guests as they said the "contestants are getting worse", following one guest spending over the odds for a terracotta olive pot.
Bargain Hunt: Blue Team make loss on a terracotta pot
On their quest, they picked up a long toy from the 1950s. Despite their best efforts of haggling, they paid £44 for it.
They then found some white vintage marching band gloves that they bagged for a steal of £8. Alice and Amy were heard telling the auctioneer that was their “favourite” find of the day.
However, the duo decided to spend a staggering £218 on a plant pot. BBC antiques expert Danny Sebastian appeared worried over its price tag but attempted to remain hopeful for them.
Although his fears came true it proved to be an epic failure at the auction. It sold for £150 meaning they were in a minus £68 deficit.
Mark Stacey who hosted the programme attempted to make the ladies feel better as he was heard saying: “In some terms it’s quite nice it rounds the minus figure up to a round number."
However, they did manage to claw back some cash with their marching band gloves.
Thankfully, the pair sold for £30, meaning they made a £22 profit.

Viewers were outraged and took to social media to express their concerns. Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, one user took a swipe at the contestants.
They wrote: “The contestants are getting worse and worse on BBC Bargain Hunt."
The red team ended up winning by a mile as they walked away with a £13 profit, while the blue team were facing a £53 debt after going into minus numbers.
However, Danny managed to get them a £12 profit on his bargain meaning they walked away minus £41 lighter overall.
