BBC Countryfile viewers spot awkward double blunder within minutes of new episode
As Countryfile presenter Anita Rani welcomed a guest to the BBC One show, viewers noticed she made an "awkward" mistake.
Countryfile: Anita Rani introduces Sir Henry Elwes
Countryfile viewers were left complaining only minutes into Sunday's new episode (February 18) after presenter Anita Rani mispronounced two words in what was quickly branded an "awkward blunder".
The BBC show took viewers to Colesbourne Gardens in Cheltenham, which is home to one of the best snowdrop displays in the UK.
The park's owner Sir Henry Elwes joined Rani to talk about the white bell-shaped flowers and why they are so popular.
The small flower can handle the frost and snow, but it only flowers for a short while, with them all disappearing by March.
As Rani introduced Sir Elwes to the show, she explained he was also a former Lord Lieutenant.

However, viewers accused the TV star of pronouncing the word "Lieutenant" in the American form, rather than using the British pronunciation, leaving them frustrated.
Taking to X, one viewer wrote: "Anita #CountryfilePlease use the UK English of "lieutenant" and not the US pronunciation. Not for the first time recently on #bbc have presenters used US pronunciation of words."
A second stated: "#countryfile. Someone tell Anita how to pronounce lieutenant. We are not American."

However, Anita then caused more reaction among viewers after pronouncing the classic plant Hellebore as "Hellbore."
Addressing the mishap, one person simply wrote on X, : ".........and Hellebore not Hellbore. #countryfile."
