Britain's Got Talent
In the absence of my crystal ball (I keep meaning to pick it up from the repairers), I can only speculate as to how this week’s live shows have gone.
But it’s fair to assume, as we head into the last of them, that Britain’s Got Talent has once again held us in its grip – a reminder to programme-makers that live, so-called “event” television is the best guarantee of ratings in this multimedia age.
By the time tonight’s show goes out, eight of the acts will already have been picked for tomorrow’s final – us viewers and the judges having had an equal say in the matter – so it’ll be interesting to see whether the balance of finalists selected so far (eg. do we already have more than enough dance acts or singers?) will influence tonight’s voting.
