Sir Tom Jones shares health update as he admits he struggles to stand on stage
SIR TOM JONES has opened up about his health, admitting he struggles to stand on stage when he is performing.
Tom Jones sings ‘I Won’t Crumble With You If You Fall’
Sir Tom Jones returned to The Voice last weekend joining his fellow judges Olly Murs, Anne-Marie and Will.i.am on the panel. Emma Willis also made her comeback to front the ITV talent show. When the judges aren't busy filming for The Voice, they are either off on tour or working on their solo projects.
Sir Tom, who has been touring up and down the country, will continue his tour later this month when he travels to the States.
However, speaking exclusive to Express.co.uk and other press, the 82-year-old admitted he has to sit down when he is singing on stage.
The Sex Bomb hitmaker is currently walking with the help of a stick while he awaits a hip operation.
“I can do about four songs… and I can walk on [stage],” Sir Tom explained when chatting about his health.

“I have an inversion table in my dressing room, so you go upside down for a couple of minutes.
“You go on that, and you think, ‘This is great’ because you walk, and it hasn’t settled down yet.
“So, I can do like four songs like that, and then it starts to hurt.”
Referencing his upcoming tour, Sir Tom continued: “So in my show, I sit down for the song called Windmills of your Mind.
“So, I've been doing that anyway, you know, sitting down for that. But then I would get up and do more, now I don’t get up.”
“I walk on [stage] I do four songs and then I say, ‘Look, normally I would get up after this, but tonight…’”
Ahead of his US tour, Sir Tom aired his concerns to his son about how fans will react to him sitting down on stage.
“I said to my son, ‘Look, I hope they don’t mind when I go to America that I’ll be sitting down for most of the show,'” The Voice judge admitted.

“He said, ‘Don’t worry about it, as you get a better view sitting down than you do standing up’.”
Sir Tom went on to insist he was "fine" when asked whether he took any pain medication.
“I am just biding my time now until I can get a new hip,” Sir Tom added referencing his upcoming hip operation.
Last Saturday, Sir Tom and his fellow judges faced criticism from viewers after they failed to turn their chairs for one act.
Former Britain's Got Talent winner Richard Hadfield took to the stage where he performed one of Sir Tom's iconic hits.
Despite his hand hovering over his button, Sir Tom decided not to turn for the opera singer.
He admitted to his co-stars that he wished Richard had done something different with the song, rather than singing it the same way he did.
The Voice returns on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
