CAROL KIRKWOOD bid a heartfelt goodbye to one of BBC Breakfast colleagues on Wednesday's edition of the news programme.
BBC Breakfast: Carol Kirkwood gives a heartfelt farewell on her last show
Carol Kirkwood joined Dan Walker and Louise Minchin on BBC Breakfast to deliver the weather forecast. Louise announced earlier this year she would be stepping down from the show at the “end of the summer” and on Wednesday the meteorologist said her goodbyes to her co-star after revealing it was their last show together.
As she delivered her final forecast of the show, Carol said: “This is the last time I’m sad to say I’ll be throwing back to Lou.
“Lou, this is the last time we’re going to work together on Breakfast, isn’t it?
“I’m very sad but it’s been such a pleasure, such a joy working with you and I’ve learnt so much from you so thank you for that.
“Thank you for being my friend as well as being my colleague.”

“Oh Carol, you are gorgeous and the good thing is that means we can go out for long lunches,” Louise commented.
“One of the things I’m really looking forward to, I will miss you but we will continue being friends.”
“Absolutely,” Carol replied and Louise added: “Take care.”
“You too,” the weather presenter said as Dan interjected: “Will you stop it now!”
“I’m not really emotionally prepared for this,” Dan added.
“I wasn’t ready for it either Carol you took me by surprise there,” Louise quipped.
“Thank you very much lovely and I will see you soon.”
Earlier in the show, Louise confirmed her departure date from BBC Breakfast.

She revealed: “I’ve got an early warning. You know what Carol was saying earlier about how it's the end of the summer officially?"
“Yes,” Dan replied as Louise continued: “I said I was going to leave didn't I? After the summer.”
“So - it's not today,” she added as Dan quipped: “I was going to say - are you off?”
“No, I'm not going today. I am going to be leaving this programme on the 15th of September, it's two weeks from today,” Louise confirmed.
