BBC VIEWERS claimed to have "switched off" on Saturday morning as they slammed Olympic Breakfast's coverage of the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Tokyo 2020: Dan Walker asks Mark England about Sam Quek
On Saturday morning, Dan Walker and Samantha Quek presented Olympic Breakfast, a BBC show dedicated to airing coverage of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The special programme aired between 6am and 9am, in replacement of BBC Breakfast, which is usually presented by Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt. However, some viewers were not happy with the coverage, with some even branding it “unwatchable”. Others were unhappy with the fact the show didn't show enough live sport.
Ahead of his debut on Olympic Breakfast, Dan shared a snap of him and his co-host on Twitter.
Along with the photo, he penned in view of his 719,000 followers: “Ready for our first stint on #OlympicBreakfast this morning.
“Join us on BBC1 for the men’s road race, men’s gymnastics, bit of reaction to @andy_murray
& Joe Salisbury’s win in the doubles and loads more #OlympicGames #Olympics #
@SamanthaQuek.” (sic)
Despite some fans loving the coverage from Dan and Sam, others were not impressed as they were hoping to see more of the men’s gymnastics opposed to the men’s bike racing.

Taking to social media to air their frustration, one viewer raged: “I don't want to go back to the men's road race! If there's a reason you can't broadcast the gymnastics, tell us. Stop ignoring everyone. #Tokyo2020 #
Another said: “My report on #OlympicBreakfast on #BBCOne
A third wrote: “Was looking forward to #OlympicBreakfast on #
“Can't you show some highlights of what has happened overnight or the gymnastics that you've relegated to the red button? #bored.” (sic)
“Any chance of actually showing some live sport rather than listening to you two waffling in the studio? Not really interested that Vorderman sent a text,” a fourth commented.
A fifth quizzed: “Still more road racing, where is the gymnastics promised? Very disappointing.”
“Where’s the men’s gymnastics?" a sixth asked. “You took it off air while you said it was moving from red button to BBC One? But you guys didn't even mention it! The coverage just isn't good enough like this.”

Other viewers seemed to be in annoyed in general over the BBC’s coverage of the Olympics. Some even claimed to have switched over the channels as they fed up with it.
“Just switched to @gcntweet for this. BBC #Tokyo2020 coverage is unwatchable,” one viewer said.
Another wrote: “Why has the BBC stopped showing the gymnastics. This is terrible reporting. I'm off to a commercial channel that can deliver. BOO to the BBC.” (sic)
“Got up at six so I could watch the GB artistic gymnastics men's team in qualifying before work and
@BBCSport just stop showing it after an hour. Not even on iPlayer. I'm not interested in the people in the studio - I want live sport,” a third raged.
Following the programme, Dan took to Twitter to address some of the viewer complaints.
"Thanks for watching this morning," he began. "I know we’ve got used to being able to see every sport - on various streams - at the #Olympics but, this time, the BBC is only allowed to show 2 sports at the same time.
"It is an issue about TV rights & not an editorial choice." (sic)
Dan's followers were quick to reply to his tweet, and despite many expressing their frustration, others praised the host for his coverage.
"You two are just awesome as a team," one penned.
Another said: " Loving the coverage - brilliant job x." (sic)
