Game of Thrones: Did Jon Snow have a secret twin brother?
GAME OF THRONES may have come to an end on HBO but for fans revisiting the George RR Martin books, a few questions remain. Including the theory that Jon Snow may have had a twin brother.

In the fifth book of George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novel series, the author introduced the character of Young Griff. While the character didn’t appear in the Game of Thrones TV series, he played a major part to the storyline of the books. So much so, that one eagle-eyed GOT fan has come up with a theory he may be related to the HBO show’s hero Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington).
Does Jon Snow have a secret twin brother?
There are plenty of differences between Game of Thrones and the A Song of Ice and Fire novels.
As such, in the TV series, there are no signs of Jon Snow, or Aegon Targaryen, having a twin brother.
This was further cemented by a flashback visited by Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) who watched Jon’s birth as the Three-Eyed Raven.
However, in the novels, there are a few clues to suggest this wasn’t the case.

A Reddit user has devised a theory that states the character of Young Griff was also the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.
The GOT fan, known as drop_top_minivan, said: “Could Jon Snow a Young Griff be fraternal twins?
“My theory is that Young Griff is not who he claims he is, but instead is Lyanna and Rhaegar's son.
“When Ned entered the Tower of Joy he found a bloodied Lyanna but instead of only finding Jon alone he also found Young Griff.”

The user continued: “He took Jon to The North since he was the northern looking one and left Griff with Howland Reed.
“After that, I don't know if Howland gave the baby to Varys or to Jon Connington or something like that. What do y'all think about that? Is it a plausible theory?”
A few fans supported the theory, describing it as “f****** crazy and kind of interesting.”
However, other fans don’t think Ned would’ve simply left one of his nephews but taken the other.

Fans will have to wait for Martin to finish his next book to see if the theory is addressed.
Martin has been writing his next book Winds of Winter for years now.
Its delay means the HBO series actually surpassed the novels.
In fact, Martin has said the show “slowed” his writing process down.
Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available to buy and stream on Amazon Prime.
