Love Island 2019 recoupling: Why is there no recoupling tonight?
LOVE ISLAND 2019 will not see any new couples made on Friday, June 14, despite there being a number of single islanders. So why is there no recoupling on Love Island tonight?
Love Island: Molly-Mae and Maura clash over Tommy in teaser
Love Island viewers have become accustomed to the show’s typical recoupling scenes at least once a week. The next recoupling on the ITV2 show was tipped to take place tonight (June 14) following the introduction of new girls Maura Higgins and Elma Pazar. However, this isn’t the case and fans are desperate to know why there won’t be a recoupling tonight.
Why is there no recoupling on Love Island tonight?
Love Island 2019 won’t host a recoupling in tonight’s episode likely because of the number of islanders following Sherif Lanre’s removal.
Sherif left the villa earlier this week after “breaking ITV rules” during his stint on the show.
If Sherif had remained on Love Island 2019, there would’ve been seven boys and eight girls left on the show.
The girls got to make their picks at the first dumping of the series, resulting in Callum Macleod being sent home.
This meant it would’ve been the boys’ turn to choose at the next recoupling.
Now with only six boys remaining and eight girls, there isn’t the correct number of islanders for just one contestant to be dumped.
Love Island typically hosts a recoupling on Friday evenings so the unfortunate islander can appear on Love Island: Aftersun the following Sunday.
Sherif’s exit means there would be two single islanders if the recoupling took place tonight.
As it stands, the single contestants in the villa are:
- Anna Vakili
- Maura Higgins
- Elma Pazar
- Danny Williams
The current couples on the ITV2 series as of June 14 are:
- Lucie Donlan and Joe Garratt
- Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague
- Michael Griffiths and Yewande Biala
- Anton Danyluk and Amber Gill
- Curtis Pritchard and Amy Hart
However, it’s almost certain that the current five pairings won’t remain by the time the next recoupling comes around.
Michael and Amber have begun a romance together, although suffered a blip in their relationship following Maura’s date with the fireman.
Elsewhere, Anton appeared to hit it off with new arrival Elma – he and Amber always agreed they’d only couple up as friends.
Tommy and Maura appeared to hit things off instantly, leaving Molly-Mae furious.
Molly-Mae could find herself single if Tommy decides to pursue things with Maura.
Another potential new couple could be Yewande and Danny with the pair sharing several sweet moments together on the show.
Fans will have to tune into the next recoupling next weeks to discover who will be the next islander dumped.
Love Island 2019 continues on weeknights and Sundays on ITV2.
