ITV This Morning: Eamonn Holmes criticises ‘cheap’ Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gift
THIS MORNING hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were quick to extend their congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their first wedding anniversary today. But Eamonn had one criticism to make.
The This Morning pair pointed out how the gift for a first anniversary was traditionally paper.
So, the show presented cardboard cut outs of the royal couple which Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford joked would be sent to Prince Harry and Meghan.
But they also had cut-outs made of themselves which they said would remind Meghan and Harry who sent the present.
However, the presents didn’t stop there as Ruth then brought out a cardboard clock customised with a picture of the new parents on their wedding day.
It’s cheap and rubbishy
“It’s a very unique timepiece,” Eamonn noted.
Ruth then added: “For some reason the hands are going round at the same time.”
“That’s because it’s cheap and rubbishy, darling,” Eamonn cheekily added.
Ruth continued: “All expense shared but that could be in the downstairs loo at Frogmore Cottage with the cardboards cut out to remind them who sent the gift.”
Eamonn then had a surprise for Ruth as he produced a clock for wife with their own wedding photograph on it.
“To remind you of our lovely day look what I got you,” Eamonn declared.
Ruth then said: “I love that. Ours is much nicer.”
“If things ever change you can photoshop a new head on there,” Eamonn joked as Ruth suggested she’d replace him with George Clooney.
But Ruth then pulled Eamonn up on an error he had made.
She said: “You’ve failed actually because its our ninth anniversary this year which is pottery.”
“I’ll send you to a pottery class then, get you out of the house,” he replied.
Earlier on, Eamonn suggested that a paper gift could be money, but Ruth hastily shot down his suggestion.
“Well, you can’t just send them money,” she shared.
To which Eamonn retorted: “Money is plastic now, isn’t it?”
“That would be common,” Ruth opined.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am and Sundays at 10.25am.
