The Archers spoilers: ‘Please no’ Viewers in meltdown over newcomer’s unexpected language
THE ARCHERS fans were beside themselves over tonight’s episode as one new character used a slang word on the programme.
The Archers: Shula tells Jim she needs to be on her own
On this evening’s instalment of the BBC Radio 4 soap, newcomer Sadia was with Ben Archer (played by Ben Norris) and Ruairi Donovan (Arthur Hughes).
Sadia sloped off from her stay at Spiritual Home to hang out with the boys as they shot guns on The Archers.
However, inexperienced Sadia decided she wanted a go and took over the weapon which attracted the attention of Chris Carter (Wilf Scolding) who came marching over.
But as he did, Sadia was quick to note how attractive she thought he was and said: “Ohh, he’s peng isn’t he?”
Can we have a translation please
Those listening at home were taken aback at the show’s use of the slang term and took to Twitter to comment.
“He’s Peng? Eh, can we have a translation please #thearchers,” one asked.
Another questioned: “Peng. Lol #TheArchers Really?”
“Peng? What sort of word is that? #thearchers,” a third asked.
A fourth pleaded: “Oh No. Not ‘peng’ , please no #notdownwiththekids #thearchers.”
While a fifth added: “Who is PENG on the @BBCTheArchers ??? #thearchers #downwiththekids.”
Meanwhile, Ben and Ruairi found themselves in major trouble with Chris for handing the gun over to Sadia.
Elsewhere on tonight’s programme, Lily Pargetter (Katie Redford) explained to her brother Freddie (Toby Laurence) why she didn’t want to work with him.
Lily explained that she wanted her own space where she could be her own person and didn’t want Freddie to interfere with that.
Many listeners were quick to side with Lily in the situation as they praised her effort on social media.
“Nicely said Lily and totally true. #thearchers,” one said.
Another stated: “Well done Lily for explaining that #thearchers.”
“I don't want to.' Good for you, Lily. Stick to your guns #TheArchers,” a third commented.
A fourth shared: “I know exactly how Lily feels about work. You can be a different person at work,v with a different set of problems which are usually solvable #thearchers.”
Meanwhile, yesterday on the radio soap, fans were shocked to learn of the existence of the Lower Loxley Art Gallery.
The Archers airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC Radio 4.
