Emmerdale resident Matty Barton (played by Ash Palmisciano) is not going to be celebrating the New Year in style tonight.
Instead, soap spoilers have revealed, the bartender is going to end up badly beaten.
It comes after last week’s episodes which saw him getting ready and excited for a date.
However, he quickly learnt the girl he was due to go for drinks for, wasn’t going to turn up.
Will Cain tell the officer how Joe really disappeared?
And tonight, the aftermath will be shown.
Leaving the pub, Matty is due to run into a few boys, one of which he recognises as Hannah’s ex boyfriend Isaac.
Embarrassed to find out the woman he had a relationship with is now actually a man, Isaac is furious and mocks Matty.
But things go from bad to worse when the lads decide words aren’t enough and they turn violent.
In distressing scenes, Matty is attacked, wrestled to the ground and his top forced over his head to prove to the boys he isn’t a proper man.
After minutes of struggling, Matty manages to break free from the boys' grip and runs home.
But when he arrives back at the farm, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) asks him about his bruises and cuts.
Furious about what has happened, Cain decides to take matters into his own hands and heads off to find the lads and seek revenge.
Nevertheless, the bad boy of Emmerdale cannot live up to his reputation.
Just as he is about to deliver a punch, the memory of Joe Tate’s (Ned Porteous) death takes over him, and he freezes, giving the thugs the opportunity to take control and beat him up.
Outnumbered Cain retreats home, battered and bleeding, much like the state of Matty.
Upset to see her son and partner hurt, Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) phones the police.
But when PC Swirling arrives, he asks all sorts of suspicious questions, which Cain is nervous to answer.
Will Cain tell the officer how Joe really disappeared?
Whilst Cain is agonising over this, Matty decides it is time to take his transition further and books an appointment to speak to a doctor about having a mastectomy.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
