Queen to take Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, on visits
THE Duchess of Cambridge will join the Queen on two engagements next month, Buckingham Palace announced yesterday.
As her royal duties become more high profile, Kate will accompany Her Majesty and the Duchess of Cornwall to London department store Fortnum and Mason on March 1.
The Queen will unveil a plaque to commemorate the regeneration of Piccadilly where the store is based.
Kate, 30, will also accompany her during a visit to Leicester on March 8.
The Duke of Edinburgh is expected to join them on the trip, one of a series of Diamond Jubilee visits.
Kate carried out her first solo public engagement last week at the National Portrait Gallery in London where she viewed works by the late painter Lucian Freud.
The Duchess, who has a degree in the history of art, became patron of the gallery last month.
