AN AMSTERDAM street was evacuated earlier today due to the discovery of a hand grenade.

The area around Amsterdam's Amstelstraat area was evacuated after the explosive was found "in a doorway".
At least one street was sealed off as an explosive team dealt with the alert.
Police said: "Evacuation because of a possible explosive found on Amsterlstraat. The Explosives Team are investigating on the scene.
They later added: “Amstelstraat update. A hand grenade is in a doorway.”
Photos taken at the scene showed an empty street in the Dutch city cordoned off by police.

The explosive was defused around an hour after the discovery. The street has since re-opened.
It comes a day after a rock concert in Rotterdam was cancelled due to a bomb scare.
The gig by US band Allah-Las was cancelled and evacuated after police found a van with Spanish licence plates filled with gas bottles.
The event occurred after a tip-off from Spanish police. Dutch police officers stopped the driver of the van in Rotterdam and have taken him into custody.
