OXFORD Circus Tube station was evacuated after a fire alert this morning, with passengers forced to evacuate a train filled with smoke.

Passengers took to social media to express their shock.
One posted a photo and warned: “Avoid Bakerloo Line/Oxford Circus, @bakerlooline train appears to be on fire.”
The Twitter user’s photo showed one man using a magazine to shield his face from the smoke.
Another said: “Don't go near Oxford Circus. I just got evacuated from the station. F*****g terrifying.”

A third posted a photo showiing passengers covering their faces in a dark and smoky train carriage.
The user said: “Fire on the bakerloo line Oxford circus today - great Friday start.”
And a video taken at the scene shows passengers streaming from the station while a siren blares and a flashing sign advises people not to enter the station.

Transport for London confirmed the station had been closed while crews responded “to a fire alert”.
There was no service on the Bakerloo Line between Elephant and Castle and Paddington and severe delays on the rest of the line.
The station has since re-opened.
