Putin’s ROBO COP ARMY? Russia shows off terrifying new combat equipment
VLADIMIR Putin has sent a thinly-veiled warning to his enemies by revealing a terrifying array of new military equipment.
Russia unveils Star Wars style military combat suits
Russia showed off its cutting-edge combat gear at a military show this week, which included a futuristic Robo Cop-style battle suit.
The six-foot model, created by the Central Research Institute for Precision Machine Building, represents the “future” of warfare.
Oleg Chikarev, the institute’s deputy chief of weapons, said: “We’re working on a concept for the combat suit of the future. On display is our vision of the suit we would like to develop within the next couple of years.
“We're also working with companies specialising in various elements of combat equipment and we’re creating the features which, in our opinion, will help our soldiers carry out their missions on the battlefield.”
The all-black kit boasts full-body armour, a glass visor and radio equipment.
The terrifying display is being viewed as a thinly-veiled threat to Russia's enemies
It is just the latest chapter in Russia’s attempts to robotise its army.
Earlier this year a high-ranking security official said future wars would no longer involve soldier-to-soldier conflict.
Future warfare will involve operators and machines, not soldiers shooting at each other
Lieutenant General Andrey Grigoriev, head of the Advanced Research Foundation, said: “I see a greater robotization.
“In fact, future warfare will involve operators and machines, not soldiers shooting at each other on the battlefield.”
The display was heralded as the future of Russian warfare
It comes after it was alleged Russia is priming its nuclear bunkers below Moscow in preparation for a military conflict.
According to security sources, the bunkers are located almost 1,000 feet below the country's capital.
The model marks the latest attempt to robotise the Russian army
A report quoted by The Times said: “A deep underground facility at the Kremlin and an enormous underground leadership bunker adjacent to Moscow State University are intended for the national command authority in wartime.
"Highly effective life-support systems may permit independent operations for many months following a nuclear attack.”
