Knifeman stabs two people to death and injures 18 in terrifying rampage in China
TWO people have been killed and at least 18 injured after a man wielding a knife attacked people in southwest China.
The suspected-knifeman was arrested by police and the investigation is ongoing
The alleged attacker, aged 30, is suspected of having a history of mental illness, according to the Chinese official Xinhua news agency.
Twenty people were taken to hospital after the incident in Guizhou province on Sunday.
The suspect is being held in police custody and authorities said the case was under investigation.
Guizhou province is located in southwest China
No details have been released about the victims.
The suspect's father reportedly said his son had a history of mental illness.
Violent crime is rare in China compared with many other countries but there has been a series of knife and axe attacks in recent years, many targeting children.
In January, a man wounded 11 children with a blade at their kindergarten in the Guangxi region.
Last November seven children were wounded in an unrelated attack by a man with a knife.
