THE devastating aftermath of Osama Bin Laden’s orchestrated 9/11 attacks has been revealed in a set of chilling photographs.

Under the headline, “9/11 Attacks and Investigation images” the FBI uploaded 27 images showcasing the horrific impact the Al Qaeda group left on America’s defence headquarters.
The images were taken in the hours and days after September 11 2001, and depict the demolished Pentagon after the attack.

Billows of smoke can be seen in almost every photo as the defence headquarters was wrecked by an American Airlines plane.
Shattered pieces of the plane which crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11 were pictured after it was torn apart.
The Boeing 757 plane struck the first and second floor of the Pentagon, creating a hole approximately 20ft wide and 100ft deep.

Reports confirm 189 people died at the Pentagon after the plane crashed, and 125 of the casualties worked at the facility.
The horrific images also show the enormous hole left in the side of the Pentagon when the outer rings of the building were penetrated by the aircraft.
Some photos were even taken from inside the building, showing charred offices and burned out windows.

Efforts by firefighters to combat the ensuing blaze and emergency responders rushing to the scene were also published.
Sections of the Pentagon damaged in the attack were rebuilt in 2002 and in August that year staff moved back in.

In 2008, a memorial garden for the victims was completed close to the Pentagon and contains a bench for each of the victims.
