Officials were called to Åkersberga, north of Stockholm, shortly after 21.34 local time after witnesses said they heard several gunshots.
A total of three people have been injured, two have stabbed and a third was dosed with pepper spray but no gunshot wounds have been reported according to police.
Stockholm police press officer Anna Westberg said: “Several people have called in and said they heard several shots.
We are here now and looking for suspected perpetrators
“It is not known how seriously injured the victims are, but police confirmed they were at the scene looking for suspects.
“We are here now and looking for suspected perpetrators.”
Witnesses reported seeing a person flee the scene in a car after the incident, Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.se reported.
The official confirmed police have several patrols and a helicopter on site, and said the case was being treated as attempted murder in the preliminary investigation.
