Man has eyes ‘gouged out’ and LEFT NEXT TO HIM in horror Brussels attack
A MAN has had his eyed ‘gouged out’ in a horrific attack in Brussels.
The attacker gouged the man's eyes out and left them on the ground before fleeing the scene
The 33-year-old was attacked at 3am on Sunday in the Ixelles part of the Belgian capital.
A witness spotted the man lying on the floor and came to his aid. He discovered both eyes had been torn out and called the emergency services.
The Belgian man, of African origin, was then rushed to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. His eyes were discovered at the scene of the attack.
No suspect was arrested. Nor do we know how the eyes were removed
He was in a critical condition but is now recovering.
Prosecutors are now investigating several links, including a theory the attack could be related to conflict between rival African gangs.
They say the attack is unprecedented in the city and confirmed the assailant was still on the loose.
