TERROR police have thwarted an alleged plot to blow up the Austrian defence ministry reportedly involving a female Islamic State suicide bomber.

A last-ditch night time raid in Vienna saw a 36-year-old arrested on suspicion of planning to mount a suicide attack.
Her 25-year-old husband – a Chechen national – was arrested on terror charges in September.
The attack was reportedly set to target the defence ministry in iconic Vienna
The woman allegedly plotted to detonate an explosive belt in the country's defence ministry building.
Her Russian husband, who had been living in Belgium, is suspected of harbouring sympathies with ISIS.

Computer logs showed the pair discussing the alleged terror plot, according to police.
But the couple's lawyer, Wolfgang Blaschit, insisted the threat was not serious and the woman had made it after she had been drinking.
But a high court quashed the result over alleged electoral fraud.
