A MASSIVE life-threatening tumour weighing more than a one-year-old child was removed from a woman’s stomach.
A team of doctors removed the giant 7kg tumour from the unnamed 45-year-old woman during a four hour operation.
The surgery that took place in Southern India was led by Dr G Unnikrishnan, after the patient arrived at the hospital complaining of discomfort and severe abdominal pain.
Dr G Unnikrishnan revealed that if the woman had delayed the surgery for a few more days, her life would have been in serious danger.
He said: “The cyst must have been there for at least 5-6 months.

Her liver and gallbladder were also not functioning properly
"It was massive and spread at the right side of her stomach due to which her liver and gallbladder were also not functioning properly."
Since the 45-year-old child daycare worker had undergone treatment in several hospitals and was not properly diagnosed, the procedure was completely free of charge.

Dr G Unnikrishnan said: "The financial condition of the family is not good and they are barely able to pay for medicine."
Assisted by junior resident's, Dr Aravind s Ganapath, Dr Suman and Dr Mussamil performed the complex surgery.
The growth was diagnosed as retroperitoneal lymphangioma and is one in only 186 reported cases in the world, the hospital in Thiruvananthapuram city of Kerela where the surgery took place, claimed.
