Hilarious pictures show Japanese commuters grinding to halt over a few centimetres of snow
IF YOU think Britain’s bad when it comes to a cold snap, then these snaps of commuter chaos in Tokyo might make you feel a little bit better.
Public transport has faced mass disruption in central Tokyo after a rare 5 cm of snow fell on the city, bringing many transport services – including the world famous bullet train – to a crawling pace.
Meanwhile over 100 domestic flights have been cancelled in the region, causing travel nightmares for thousands of disappointed passengers.
But while the snow in central Tokyo may look a little more light dusting than catastrophic blizzard, other parts of Japan didn’t get off so easily.
As much as 80cm of snow is expected to blanket the Tohoku region, while Hokkaido, Hokuriku and Tokai could face up to 60cm leading to weather warnings across the country.
Meanwhile on the other side of the world Britain is battling its own blustery blizzard.
Forecasters have warned that the white blanket covering huge swathes of the country will ice over as temperatures plunge to well below freezing once more.
