PA held in actress poisoning case
A Venezuelan soap opera actress is at the heart of a real life telenovela after her personal assistant was arrested for allegedly trying to poison her and her family.
Mexico City prosecutors arrested actress Gabriela Spanic's assistant after she allegedly poisoned the actress' food with ammonium sulphate.
Prosecutors said Marcia Fernandez, an Argentinian citizen, was putting the chemical in Spanic's food for at least four months.
The 36-year-old actress told investigators that she, her family and a maid were suffering from vertigo, headaches, fatigue and chills for months.
Prosecutors said in a statement that Spanic became suspicious of her assistant after noticing she was the only one in the household who had not been sick.
