A video showing two women being paraded naked by a mob in Manipur, a state in northeast India, has sparked widespread outrage.
The shocking incident occurred amid deadly ethnic violence that had ravaged Manipur for more than two months.
In reaction to the attack, police in Manipur launched a gang rape case and apprehended one suspect, with more arrests expected soon.

The ethnic hostilities in Manipur between the Meitei and Kuki tribal clans have resulted in a devastating loss of life, with at least 130 people killed and almost 60,000 homeless.
According to the police complaint, a huge group armed with sophisticated weaponry and presumed to be members of the Meitei community invaded B. Phainom village.
The crowd robbed and vandalised property, torching homes. Five villagers sought sanctuary in the forest during this terrifying occurrence, but they were subsequently apprehended by the crowd.
The attackers quickly killed one man and forced the three women to strip naked.
