Gored Spanish bullfighter on mend
A top Spanish bullfighter who suffered a near-fatal goring has been released from a Mexican hospital.
Miguel Hidalgo Hospital spokeswoman Tanya Alba says Jose Tomas thanked his fans and the staff at the hospital in the Mexican city of Aguascalientes.
Thomas' release came a week after he was gored in the groin. The bull's horn severed a vein and an artery and Tomas received a large blood transfusion.
Tomas is known for a daring bullfighting style in which he gets particularly close to the bull.
Mexican television footage showed Tomas working the bull with his cape when the animal quickly turned and caught the matador in the groin.
