Justin Trudeau: Canadian Prime Minister MOCKED online for St Patrick’s Day tweet
CANADIAN Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been attacked on Twitter for a St Patrick’s Day tweet.
Justin Trudeau admits his mistakes in SNC-Lavalin scandal
Mr Trudeau wished his 4.4 million followers a Happy St Patrick’s Day. But his message angered people as he wished it to Canadians of Irish descent and “those who are Irish for the day”. Social media users called out the politician for culturally appropriating the holiday.
His tweet read: “To all Canadians of Irish descent – and those who are Irish for the day – Happy StPatricksDay!”
People then took to Twitter to say he was encouraging people to don green clothing and pretend to be Irish for the day.
One said: “The ones who are 'Irish for today' need to stop appropriating my culture.”
While another added: “Irish for the day?! Excuse me, sir, this is alarming cultural appropriation!”

The hatred comes after Mr Trudeau is alleged to be involved in the SNC-Lavalin scandal.
Canadians have been calling for him to resign in light of the reports.
A user said: “Irish you would resign.”
Another added: “May all the hard-working Irish fight to ensure you don’t see a second term!! And I’ll drink to that!”
Canada: Justin Trudeau avoids addressing if he will resign
Two of Mr Trudeau’s colleagues resigned in the wake of the scandal including Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould who alleged Mr Trudeau pressured her into offering remediation to SNC-Lavalin.
Mr Trudeau has insisted there was never any inappropriate pressure placed on Ms Wilson-Raybould and said the final decision to drop the trial and instead subject the company to a so-called deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) was hers alone.
He acknowledged there had been a breakdown in trust and communications between his office and Ms Wilson-Raybould.
He said: “I was not aware of that erosion of trust, and as Prime Minister and head of cabinet, I should have been.”
