UK snow forecast: Britain braces for SNOW as widespread FROST hits and temperatures plunge
SNOW is set to pelt the UK during an arctic blast as latest forecasts show the country will be hit with sub-zero temperatures and snow leading to harsh frost and possible sleet throughout the country.

WX Charts maps show parts of Britain targeted by heavy snow – with some areas facing a 90 percent chance of heavy flurries as early as early as Wednesday.
The weather forecast predicts a large section of the Western side of the island from Scotland to Wales will be carpeted with powder.
A stormy blast mid-week will whip up coastal gales, triggering outbreaks of heavy rain, hail and thunder and air from the North Pole will push temperatures below average.

Forecasts from the Met Office expect winds to pick up mid-week to turn wintry as they increase in strength over high-ground in Scotland.
Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said: "Polar maritime air will move over with just the South and Southeast holding on to milder conditions.
"Showers will be on the wintry side and they could be heavy with thunder and hail in the mix. We could also see some snow to low levels in Scotland and northern England.
"We remain in a northwesterly airflow through the week and it will feel cold in the winds with a risk of frost and patchy ice overnight.”

Polar maritime air will move over with just the South and Southeast holding on to milder conditions
Daytime temperatures will dip overnight with lows of –4C forecast in rural and exposed spots.
The Met Office said: “An unsettled picture is most likely, with brighter showery periods interspersed with bands of cloud and rain.
“It may become colder with an increased risk of snow in the North.”
Icy conditions show signs of bedding in through February with torrential downpours, blizzards and thundersnow possible.
Next week’s cold spell will be followed by another bitter ‘beast from the east’ blast of cold from eastern Europe and Siberia later next month.
