The UK is likely to be hit by a massive 334-mile rain bomb days after the temperature levels in the country peak at sweltering 32C, according to a weather map. WXCharts map generated using Met Desk data shows that areas from Newcastle to Southampton will be covered in rain, impacting the nine cities across Britain.

The weather map, generated on June 16, shows that there will be a sudden change in the weather on June 23 as the maps turn blue, suggesting the possibility of wet conditions. The switch in the weather will come hours after the parts of the UK experience hot weather conditions. According to the weather maps, temperature levels around London will soar to 32C on the evening of June 22 (Sunday).

Cities such as Manchester, Birmingham, Southampton, London, Newcastle, Oxford, Leeds, Liverpool, Cambridge are likely to be most impacted by the rainy conditions, the maps have suggested.

It comes days after parts of the UK are likely to bake in a 30C heatwave. The Met Office said that the highest temperatures values in the UK are expected to be around 27C on Wednesday.

On Thursday, this will rise to 29C, and by Saturday, more locations will exceed heatwave values, with the highest temperatures expected to exceed 30C, the National Weather Agency explained.

Tony Wisson, deputy chief meteorologist said:“The rising temperatures this week are a combination of several factors. Over the next few days, settled weather and warm sunshine will allow temperatures to rise day on day.

"Temperatures will then rise further towards the end of the week as winds turn more southerly and even warmer air over continental Europe will be drawn across the UK. We could very well see several places exceeding 30C, which will be the highest temperatures of the year so far."

The Met Office’s long-range forecast between June 21 and 30 reads: “Very warm or hot conditions will likely be the focus of the weather over the weekend and into the start of next week.

“Temperatures could remain in the low thirties of Celsius across parts of England, with a small chance of approaching mid thirties in some places. Heatwave thresholds may continue to be exceeded across parts of the UK at first.

“Temperatures overnight will also be very warm and perhaps humid for much of the UK. Across the west of the British Isles, cloudier conditions could bring showers with the odd lightning flash.

“Winds will also be light for most, and moderate around coasts further west. From early mid week, signs are the heat will ease, with rain and showers, and less hot conditions, perhaps moving in from the west.”
