UK hot weather: New maps show Iberian plume smashing into Britain in days

Millions of Britons throughout the country could well be in for sweltering conditions in the coming weeks

The UK could be set to sizzle once more, with temperatures jumping as an Iberian plume smashes into Britain.

The latest weather maps Netweather forecast the mercury could reach 25C in parts of eastern England on July 13, with similar temperatures the day before in the east and south-east.

According to the forecasting platform, most of southern England will be swamped in summery temperatures north of 22C on July 12.

However, northern areas of England, parts of North Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland will all be in the teens whilst the rest of the country basks in the sun.

According to Netweather.com Brits could see a top temperature of 24C on July 12.

The weather appears to be coming from the other side of the Channel, with the searing heat of the Mediterranean rising up through Europe and reaching British shores.

On July 12 and 13, scorching temperatures in Spain and Portugal could soar past 40C.

Those who are planning to be on the Iberian Peninsula on those days would be advised to stay indoors.

Mostly dry night, cloud and patchy rain in west later.

This Evening and Tonight:

Showers will tend to ease through the evening, with most places having a fine end to the day with some late sunny spells. Overnight, cloud will thicken across some western areas with a little rain possible later.

Saturday:

Cool and breezy across Scotland with sunshine and showers. Dry and bright for Northern Ireland and southeast England. Elsewhere, rather cloudy with some patchy rain possible. Warm in the south.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mostly dry with sunny spells Sunday. Cloud and rain moving slowly southwards through Monday, the south reaming dry for much of the day. Sunshine and showers Tuesday. Rather cool overall.
