Britain is set to be blasted by an Iberian plume and hot weather maps have revealed the exact date of the 24C surge. The first week of June saw lows of 6C with temperatures only just peaking at 16C leading to many Brits toying with putting the central heating back on .

However, we might not have to wait much longer for warmer weather as temperatures are set to soar in a matter of weeks. Maps courtesy of Netweather.com show that temperatures will peak at 24C between June 23 to 25 with June 23 predicted to be the warmest day that week.

The highest temperatures will be seen in the south and south East, with the likes of London, Reading, Southampton and Bristol revelling in the warmer weather.

North of England, Wales and Scotland will all experience slightly cooler weather with temperatures set to reach between 15C to 17C.

Senior meteorologist at British Weather Services Jim Dale admitted that although we are likely to experience more wet grief we can look forward to an Iberian plume.

He said: “Southern Britain is likely to be in the northern end of that plume. 21C - 24C temperatures are likely. Southern Spain will see temperatures between 40C to 45C, there will be a serious heatwave in Africa and in southern Portugal.”

The Met Office does not share the same positivity in its weather outlook for June 24-July 8 warning that the “outlook remains uncertain”.

The forecaster said: "The outlook remains uncertain for any particular weather patterns to dominate during this period.

“As such, typical conditions for the UK are most probable, with a mixture of weather types.

“All areas can expect to see some spells of drier, sunnier weather, but there will also be showers or longer spells of rain at times. Temperatures are most likely to be close to, or above, climatological average.”
