Donald Trump rally arrest: Press conference held

Donald Trump's alleged would-be assassin has been pictured with Nigel Farage and Russell Brand.

Vem Miller, 49, was arrested at a checkpoint near Trump's Coachella Rally in California, where police found a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine in his possession.

According to Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, he also allegedly had multiple passports and driver's licenses with different names in his car.

The weapons were unregistered.

Miller appears to be a part of the Sovereign Citizens movement, a right-wing campaign against number plates and official ID.

On his social media, Miller shared selfies he took with a number of high-profile figures, including former presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr, Canadian professor Jordan Peterson, and actor Dennis Quaid.

In one post, Miller appears to be filming Mr Trump's son, Don Jr.

He also shared a photo alongside Mr Farage. Mr Farage has been approached for comment.

Sources from the Trump campaign said there has been no assassination attempt at the Coachella rally.

Miller said the accusations are "complete b******t."

Speaking to Southern California News Group, he added: "I’m an artist, I’m the last person that would cause any violence and harm to anybody.

"I've literally never even shot a gun in my life.

"I don't know anything about guns."

But Sheriff Bianco branded Miller a "lunatic" who did pose a threat to Mr Trump.

He claimed: "I truly do believe we prevented another assassination attempt."

The Sovereign Citizens has been flagged as a domestic terror threat by the FBI.

On his social media, Miller describes himself as an "investigative journalist" and "documentary filmmaker."

He stood for a place on the Nevada state assembly back in 2022, but was unsuccessful.

Mr Trump addressed a rally at Calhoun Ranch in Riverside County on Saturday as he prepares to battle it out with Vice President Kamala Harris in the US election next month.

The former president returned to the scene of the first assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The incident in July saw a shooter narrowly miss Mr Trump's head, clipping his ear with a round.

Despite the near miss, Mr Trump returned to Butler last week and vowed to never quit, "not even in the face of death itself".

He joked: "A very big thank you to Pennsylvania. We love Pennsylvania, and as I was saying..."
