A viewer of this week's BBC Question Time branded the October 10 special focused on the upcoming US election "wild".

Question Time’s US election special took little time to heat up as supporters of either the Democrat or Republican candidates clashed on the issues set to be crucial in next month’s election.

Fiona Bruce, who chaired the live studio audience and panel guests from across the political spectrum, started the discussion by asking if character matters.

After a panel discussion which saw British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan criticising Donald Trump, one supporter of the former US President took issue with Hasan’s remarks.

She began by telling Hasan to check his facts, to which the journalist asked whether she was referring to the criminal court case or the rumoured extra-marital affairs.

The lady concluded: “He might be a narcissist but he cares about this country.”

A panellist responded: "By definition, a narcissist cares about nothing other than themselves.”

Panel guests were not in agreement on how important character is to a presidential candidate.

Some claimed that all politicians lie and exaggerate the truth, with Bryan Lanza, Trump’s former Senior Advisor, arguing that the former president is from the entertainment industry and thus has a tendency to exaggerate.

In a discussion that seemed to centre largely on Trump, Republican Martina White argued that the character of Vice President Kamala Harris should be questioned “given that she has lied about the sitting President’s health for years”. White referred to US President Joe Biden, whose health state has been under scrutiny over the past months.
