World Cup: Manchester erupts as England's Trippier scores
Beer was flung into the air at pubs and parks across the country after the goal by Trippier as fans cheer passionately for the England side.
Trippier’s goal made history as it meant that England have now scored more goals than ever in a World Cup.
The talented England player scored just four minutes into the game with a free kick after Luka Modric brought down Dele Alli on the edge of the penalty area.
The goal ended 12 years without England scoring a free-kick goal ate the World Cup.
The Tottenham right-back has become the third England player to score in a World Cup semi-final after Bobby Charlton's kick in 1966 and Gary Lineker's solo goal at Italia '90.
I don't think we could have dreamt of a better start than that
It gave England the confidence to dominate in the rest of the first half of the match.
England fan Ben Spencer, from Doncaster, described it as the "perfect" half for England.
The 27-year-old said: "I don't think we could have dreamt of a better start than that.
"Trippier's free kick was such a special moment, and it was just what we all needed to settle down the nerves.
"It would be better if we had got the second goal, but we were saying that at half-time against Sweden, and look what happened."
Following the first half, Gary Lineker tweeted: “Terrific half from England. Thoroughly deserve the lead. 45 minutes from the chance of a pop at footballing immortality”.
Piers Morgan tweeted: "England are all over them. We're a better team. Stronger, faster, better organised. We can do this. We will do this."
A win in the Moscow match would secure England a place in the World Cup final, due to be held on Sunday July 15.
