London violence: Man dead after being 'beaten up' outside Betfred bookies in Hackney
A MAN in his 50s has died following a fight outside a Betfred bookmakers in Hackney, north-east London, the Metropolitan Police has announced.
Officers were called to the Betfred store in Upper Clapton Road just before 4:30pm
Officers were called to the Betfred store in Upper Clapton Road just before 4:30pm after receiving reports of a man unconscious in the street.
The victim, who has not been named, is believed to have been involved in a violent altercation with another man.
Medics from the London Ambulance Service raced to his aid but they could not revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Scotland Yard has not yet made any arrests in connection with the incident.
Local newspaper the Hackney Gazette claimed the victim had been "beaten up".

A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.23pm today to Upper Clapton Road, E5, to reports of an assault.
"We sent two ambulance crews, an incident response officer and dispatched London's Air Ambulance to the scene.
"Sadly, despite extensive efforts to resuscitate the patient, he died at the scene."
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called at 16:27pm to a bookmakers in Upper Clapton Road, E5, after reports of a male unconscious.
"Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.
Scotland Yard has not yet made any arrests in connection with the incident
"Despite the efforts of medical staff the male, believed to be aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The victim is believed to have been involved in an altercation with another male who has since left the scene.
"A crime scene is in place. There have been no arrests.
"The Homicide and Major Crime Command have been informed. Enquiries continue."
The incident comes just days two teenagers were shot dead on Easter Monday, fuelling fears of a surge of violence across London.
