Croydon residents EVACUATED after car smashes into energy plant causing GAS LEAK
WORRIED local residents have been forced to abandon their homes in the freezing cold after a car smashed into an energy plant and caused a gas leak in Corydon, emergency services have confirmed.

The London Fire Brigade, Met Police and ambulance service are all in attendance.
The incident, which occured late last night, took place near Wandle Park where a cordon is in place.
A rest centre has been set up at a local Sainsbury's for those evacuated.
Croydon Council tweeted: “The council is currently supporting the Croydon Metropolitain Police Service and London Fire Brigade who are dealing with an incident at Whitestone Way.

“We have set up a rest centre for residents who have been evacuated as a precaution.
“All other residents in the area are advised to stay in their homes unless told otherwise by police.”
The Salvation Army is helping to find shelter for those without accommodation.
Those affected are not expected to be let back into their homes until the morning.
The police have confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
No one has been arrested and no one was injured.
Temperatures have dropped as low as 0C in Croydon and some local residents forced to evacuate have complained of being cold on social media.

Those affected were transported by bus to the shelter
One person said: “It’s freeing cold here.”
Another sarcastically added: “This is a really great night to be evacuated from my flat due to a gas leak.”
