ACID ATTACK: Police looking to extend restrictions following latest string of attacks
POLICE say they are trying to extend restrictions around the sale of corrosive liquids after six people were injured in the latest of a string of acid attacks.
The latest acid attack took place at Stratford Shopping Centre on Saturday evening around 8pm
Metropolitan Police borough commander Ade Adelekan spoke out after a 15-year-old was arrested in Stratford, east London, after an “altercation” between two groups of young men in a shopping centre led to acid being thrown.
Chief Supt Adelekan said: "Our response to such attacks is continually improving through training and joint working with partners and we are working with the Home Office to explore possible restrictions around the sale of corrosive substances in conjunction with retailers and manufacturers."

The latest incident took place at the Stratford Shopping Centre, near the Westfield Stratford City development, on Saturday evening at around 8pm.
Eyewitnesses said they saw at least a dozen people running from the scene after the suspected acid was thrown.
Paul Gibson, Assistant Director of Operations at London Ambulance Service, said: “We treated a total of six patients, three of whom were taken to London hospitals.”
