ALTON TOWERS has closed its Congo River Rapids ride after the death of an 11-year-old girl on an attraction designed by the same company at Drayton Manor Park.

Evha Jannath, from Leicester, was killed after she fell out of a boat on the Splash Canyon ride at the Tamworth-based theme park on Tuesday.
And now Alton Towers has announced the theme park’s own rapids ride will be closed on Thursday as a precaution.
The rest of the park will be open as normal.

It was claimed Evha had been swapping seats with a friend when she slipped and toppled into the water.
Ambulance crews arrived at the theme park to find her with "serious injuries" after being pulled from the water by staff.

She was airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital but died en route.
In an emotional statement, her family said: "Evha was a beautiful little girl who was full of love and always smiling.

"Words cannot describe the pain and loss we feel, we are devastated that we will not see our beautiful little girl again. “We ask that you allow us to grieve in private and deal with our loss as a family."
