The Liberal Democrat leader argued and then embraced pensioner Malcolm Baker while campaigning in Oxfordshire.
Caught by Sky News, Mr Baker, 65, called Mr Farron a “disgrace” and accused the Remainer-in-Chief of calling Brexit voters racist.
Mr Baker, a lifelong Labour Party supporter but who said he will now vote for Theresa May, said: “I voted Leave and I’m proud to have voted Leave and I knew what I was voting for.
“I’m fed up of hearing this chap keeping on running Britain down. We are a fantastic country.

Are you proud that [your grandchildren] will inherit a poorer, less powerful and less secure country?
“Don’t tell people who voted Leave that they didn’t know what they were voting for. Oh come on Tim.”
After Mr Farron said ‘hard’ Brexit was not on the ballot paper, the Brexiteer added if the Lib Dem leader had his own way the ballot paper would be a mile long.
Mr Farron earlier said: Loads of my mates voted Leave and I don’t think they’re racist.

Tim Farron says "smell my spaniel" whilst out campaigning
Mr Farron added he should be able to challenge Theresa May over Brexit as Mr Baker had him.
But the conversation then took a lighter turn when Mr Baker joked he “had no eggs on him” and leaned in to kiss the party leader.
The scene has been ridiculed since on social networking site Twitter.
It comes after the party leader was filmed appearing to ask a member of the public to "smell my spaniel" during a campaign appearance in the target seat of Cambridge.
The strange request was caught on camera and quickly went viral, turning him into a figure of social media mockery.
Meanwhile, Mr Farron has hit out at Mrs May’s “extremely worrying” Brexit negotiating strategy, after it was suggested Britain’s EU divorce bill has now soared to £85billion (€100billion).
He said Britons “don’t trust Brexiteers” in a swipe at the Conservatives as they gear up for talks with the European Union.
