London terror attack: Reviews into Parliament security planned after Westminster atrocity
TWO reviews into security in Parliament will be held following the terror attack at Westminster, Speaker John Bercow has told MPs.
Security in Parliament will be held following last week's attack in Westminster
An independent review will take place into how the perimeter fence of the Parliamentary estate is secured after knife-wielding attacker Khalid Masood ran into New Palace Yard and murdered PC Keith Palmer last Wednesday.
Mr Bercow said there would also be a second externally-led review on how Parliament responds to major incidents.
Three members of the public were killed when Masood drove a car through crowds on Westminster Bridge last Wednesday.
He then crashed it into a gate outside Parliament before attempting to storm the building.
PC Keith Palmer was then stabbed to death as he blocked the terrorist's entry.
American tourist Kurt Cochran, 43-year-old Aysha Frade and retired window cleaner Leslie Rhodes were killed as Masood drove a rented Hyundai i40 across the Bridge.
Police release details of the 82 seconds of the Westminster Attack
Masood was born Adrian Ajao on Christmas Day in Dartford, Kent, in 1964.
Later known as Adrian Elms, he lived in Rye, East Sussex, before moving to Tunbridge Wells in Kent.
After leaving the secondary school he fell into a life of crime and became increasingly violent with convictions for assault and possession of a deadly weapon.
