SNP continue to target Trump as Britain's youngest MP calls state visit 'ridiculous'
SCOTTISH politician Mhairi Black has said she does not want to live in the UK if the Government keeps open its state visit invite to “misogynist” Donald Trump.
Mhairi Black: Disgusted with Trump's upcoming state visit
The SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South said demonstrators would be “out in their droves” if the President made a trip to Balmoral as part of his visit.
Speaking to Channel 4, the 22-year-old attacked his attitudes towards women and “racist, xenophobic” immigration ban.
She said: “A state visit is one of the highest honours that you can give someone who visits this country.
“So to give it to a man, a misogynist, who has introduced a racist, xenophobic and Islamophobic policy, is just absolutely ridiculous and it’s not the kind of country that I want to be living in.”

Responding to what the reaction in Balmoral would be should his visit extend there, she added: “I think you’ll find in Scotland, we like a wee protest every now and then. There’ll be numbers out in their droves.”
Ms Black, the youngest member in the House of Commons, was asked what she thought about the suggestion Theresa May stayed quiet for two days about Mr Trump’s immigration ban.
Also that a decision by Mrs May to rescind the invite would have “extraordinary diplomatic consequences.”
She said: “Well, this seems now to be quite a habit for the Prime Minister. First of all it was the Trident misfire that she knew about and didn’t tell Parliament and now it’s this horrific policy that we’re hearing that she already knew about.
“So I don’t know why she is ducking her responsibilities and why she doesn’t want to be held accountable.
“It would be sending a clear signal out to the rest of the world, this is not what we’re about. This is not ok and we’re not going to be honouring it.”
James Cordon protests Trump's ban with message to fans
A petition backing Mr Trump’s state visit to Britain has surpassed 110,000 signatures amid protests against the Republican’s planned trip.
The counter petition is a result of one to block Donald Trump from entering the UK, which has reached 1,624,347 signatures.
The President has come under heavy criticism following his executive order which imposes a 90-day ban on refugees and migrants from seven Muslim-majority countries as well as an indefinite ban on refugees from Syria.
