British backpacker dies in plane crash in Australia
A FEMALE British backpacker was killed and three other people injured when their light plane crashed during a flight on Australia's Queensland coast today.

A second young woman, also from the UK, was seriously injured and flown to hospital with head wounds and chest and abdominal injuries.
A 13 year-old boy suffered a suspected broken leg and was in a stable condition.
The pilot, Les Woodal, 62, was airlifted to hospital with serious head and leg injuries. The plane, which specializes in fly-in camping trips, came down on Middle Island, near Agnes Water, off the central Queensland coast.

The plane's pilot was airlifted to hospital
Passengers on a second tourist flight following the first plane, witnessed the crash.
The second aircraft managed to land on the same beach and the pilot raised the alarm.
Queensland rescue services spokesman John Kennedy said it would have been a distressing scene for the passengers on the other aircraft.

Middle Island is situated in a remote location and difficult to access.
Police have not released the names of the dead and injured.
